Several boys on the Dixie soccer team and the Desert Hills team were very anxious to play this game. These boys have played soccer together for several years on Dixie Fire and they have been split up by the new school. Taylor and Konley have been the best of friends since they were five and Konley was looking forward to a game of fun and good competition. Konley broke his foot the night before the game at practice and was very disappointed that he couldn't play in the game. He is the one at the end of the line in crutches after the game (in black). Of course that is why Dixie won, because Konley couldn't play!
I sat with Shannon (Konley's mom) on the Desert Hills side and also with Greg Gentry (Cody's dad). They were fun company and even let me cheer for Dixie. I got several glares from other DHHS fans around us. My good friends protected me until the end then they sprayed 7-up on me and knocked me off my chair after Dixie won! Thanks for the hot dog, Greg, it was tasty.
I hope Konley has a quick recovery and is back on the field quick. Taylor is lucky to have such great friends.
