While the rest of us were in Idaho, Guy was off having another one of his great adventures. He had the opportunity to float the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon. It is a long waiting list these days, like over 10 years, to get a private permit to run this river. His good friend just happened to have connections to a permit that they have been waiting years for. This is a 15 day run but Guy couldn't take that much consecutive time off of work. He started at Lee's Ferry and ran the river for 5 days to Phantom Ranch where he hiked out and others hiked down to replace those who left the trip. He had a great time. Several people were lifted out by helicopter at Whitmore Wash towards the end of the trip so Guy and I and a few other friends hiked down to the river to join the group for the last two days on the river. I was grateful for the small dose I got. It was a lot of fun.
