On the Road AGAIN!

So when Guy and I celebrate, it is usually a trip of some kind just to get away from either work, the heat, or just our daily routine. Our trips are not the romantic pampering kind. It's more of an outdoor adventure. I have my own tour guide who shares his knowledge, expertise, experience and ambition to broaden my own experiences. We did go on a cruise a few years ago for our anniversary. That was a great trip, and Guy still injected his "outdoor adventure" twist to all of our offshore excursions. It was great.
The weather was wet last week and we couldn't work so Guy and I went on another bike adventure. It just so happened to be over our 8th anniversary. We drove to Phoenix and stayed with his parents while they were in town. (They have a home in Phoenix, but live in Northern AZ). It was a great visit. We haven't seen them in about four years. It is amazing how quickly time passes. Thanks for the clean, warm bed, the great dinners and a good time.

We rode for four days and traveled for two. I am worn out from all of our traveling and riding. We are both taking it easy this weekend to recover and get ready for some easier training for our race (24-Hours of Old Pueblo) in two weeks.
Here is basically where we rode:
Day One
  • Gateway Trail (Scottsdale) 7 miles of very steep rocky trail (difficult to climb on a hard tail single-speed)
  • Red Mountain (Mesa) 10 miles of fun, twisting, desert singletrack.
Day Two
  • Black Canyon City 20 miles of incredibly crafted singletrack carved into the mountainside.
Day Three (rest day for me)
  • McDowell Mountain "Long Loop" 8 miles on a one-way competitive single-track loop.
Day Four
  • Black Canyon City - Again, on the way home! 15 miles.
Again, I probably have a few frustrated friends in Phoenix:( Can I still call your friends?

work hard, play hard, rider harder.

Sounds fun! I can't think of a better way to celebrate! Congratulations on your anniversary. Where are the pics of the Black Rock trail? Sounds amazing!
Good luck next weekend- you'll rock it, you always do!
