Weekend with the Hurricane Mulva Froggies - 18 Hours of Fruita

May 5th, 2009
Team OTE Hurricane Mulva Froggies
Chrystal, Kim, Kathleen & Cimarron
We are getting loaded up and ready to head to Fruita, CO for an 18-Hour Bike Race
This is Troy Rarick. He is the Event Coordinator for this fun weekend. There is never a dull moment when Troy is around.
I met Jude at last year's event. He always hooks me up with Magura repairs. I always seem to need my brakes tweeked in some way. Guy is always on top of the maintenance and bleeds them for me but Jude replaces all my worn out parts. You rock Jude, hope to see you again soon.
Troy, Kim and Cimarron. They are discussing our "in the middle of the race" costumes. We had this crazy idea of wearing these really cute biker chick boxer underwear for one lap. Some unexpected team demographics crashed down on us and it didn't happen. (If you were there, you know what I'm talking about, it's all GOOD!) Besides, it started raining and was too cool to ride in cotton undies.
This is our camp area at night. Cimarron did a great job of organizing us and providing much needed shelter. It drizzled most of the race.
The race started at midnight. This is the racers at the bottom of the hill getting ready to run to their bikes.
Racers running up the hill to their bikes.....Cimarron ran for our team.
Cimarron, the night has just begun!
Kathleen gettting ready for her lap.
Camp the next morning. We all had our clothes hanging out to dry.
Kim likes riding in the mud. She just like to get dirty!
Cimarron is just coming in from a muddy lap. I am in the red, getting ready to go out for a wet one. It took me a while to get excited about getting SO muddy. It was awesome in the end, just a lot of work to clean up!
This is basically how mucky the laps were; GOOD STUFF!
Cimarron's shirt says:"ANGRY ONE, say what needs to be said" That couldn't have been more appropriate for the weekend! What happens in Fruita stays in Fruita, right girls? Ha Ha!!!
This is my new friend, Paul, with Kim after the race. Paul and I had a very muddy 1/2 lap together. It was very entertaining and frustrating at the same time. (I had fun Paul). We would have to stop and clean all the mud and clay from our tires and gears just to keep moving. Many of the racers had to either walk or turn around because their bikes wouldn't move.
Just after the race ended around 7p the rain really started coming down hard. The skies cleared by 9p and it was a beautiful night and clear blue morning for the drive home.
Fortunately the temperature wasn't too cold which made the rainy weather not so bad. I still had to bundle up good when I wasn't moving fast.
We loaded every available open space of Kim's van! This is after we had eaten all of our food too! This was a very memorable "Girl's Weekend". Till next time.....

work hard, play hard, rider harder.
