Annie, Sadie and Guy rafting on the Sevier River near Big Rock Candy Mountain. We finally got the kids together to raft the river but not until after Grant left on his mission. This was a warm day for boating. The weather was funny, it was warm but it would rain on us for a few minutes every hour. It usually happened as we were getting off the river and running the shuttle.
Taylor and Annie (Sadie's best friend)
These silly girl's enjoyed playing in the river, on and off the boat.
We had to stop to inflate the raft in the middle of the run.
Sadie, Taylor and Annie
Mike and his family also came to run the river. It was helpful to shuttle the boats quickly.
Ava, Greyson, Haislee, and Sage. We took all the adults down for the first run before they would put their kids on the raft. Sadie and Annie watched the kids and the baby while we all went.
Mike, Kell, Amanda, Carla, & Guy
Taylor and I went down in a tandem raft. Taylor did a great job and enjoyed it more than the raft.
This was the adults coming through the rock garden rapids.
They determined it was very fun and safe enough to take the little kids. The little kids are fearless and were so excited to go.
Taylor and I went on the raft to help row while Guy took a solo to stay back with Annie and Sadie who took a tandem boat by themselves. I was nervous for them but they were very excited.
Taylor and Grey. It was a very pleasant day, Taylor went overboard to cool off.
Haislee thought she would too!
Sadie and Annie didn't have a clue what they were getting themselves into! They screamed and yelled and laughed and each other the whole time. They would run into the side of the bank and turn around and around. It was like a roller-coaster ride for them. I don't know if they really ever got in sync enough to be in control!
The amazing thing was that the tandem usually floats down the river much faster than the raft. They were so far behind that I was sure they had tipped over and were swimming and trying to get back into their boat. I couldn't believe it when I saw them in their boat coming around the corner through the rock garden which is the most technical part of the run. They were laughing and screaming and they stayed in the boat the whole time! Just a week before Guy and I witnessed a group of four adult men in two tandem boats come through this section out of control. They all fell out of their boats and were flailing around like they were going to die. Sometimes I guess it pays to be oblivious!
I am so glad they made the run safely and had a good time. Hopefully they will want to do it with us again soon.
Mike and his family and friends had so much fun they have already set a date to do it again and have other friends they want to invite! I am starting to feel like a river running guide!
Back at camp (Te-ah) we enjoyed a great dinner. We were all very hungry and tired.
Guy and Taylor around the campfire.
We relaxed the next day and played cards.
work hard, play hard, rider harder.
