Taylor's Eagle Project

The first work day was a stake neighborhood clean-up day on April 18, 2009. Several Bloomington residents came to clean the area and Taylor used this day to start his project. He had several people help him clean his area and he had help digging 35 of the 57 holes for his trees.

At the end of the day his scout troop showed up to do the most important part, dispose of (burn) the garbage! Joe Nelson was an expert Pyro. They had a good time with the gasoline!

The tractor came in very handy to get the last of the big rocks and garbage hauled off.
The official project day was scheduled for June 6, 2009. By this time the 35 holes that had been dug in April were filling in from rain and wind. Taylor hired a tractor to dig all 57 of his holes the day before the trees would be planted.
Taylor and Paul (good buddy) planted a tree for practice so he would know how to show his helpers the next day.
Taylor had several youth show up to help him plant trees. The stake was holding Youth Conference while six scouts were working on their eagle projects. The youth were assigned to help them with their projects as a service project for the conference. There were a total of over 250 trees planted by noon on June 6, 2009!
It was a hot and windy morning, we were grateful for so much help.
Here was the majority of Taylor's crew. There were actually just about as many boys but they went to lunch ASAP!

Guy went back the next week to help Taylor build up the water wells.

July 7, 2009. This is the day Taylor passed off his project with the city. Taylor, Sadie, Annie and I retied all the trees, reset many of the stakes and made sure the sprinklers and water wells were working. After one month of settling, and over 300 hours of work, the trees look great. Now for the paperwork!!!!! Good Job TAYLOR!
