I dropped Sadie off at the church last week to play volleyball and then on my way home I heard Bon Jovi's "Wanted: Dead or Alive" on the radio. This brought me back to my youth when I was a beehive (12 years old) and our ward won the regional playoffs. I loved to play volleyball and basketball with our young women. We were so hyper and had so much fun. When I saw my daughter with all her friends I saw myself when 25 years ago. We had a party after the regional volleyball championship game and I recall that the girls who stayed up all night tried to torture the girls who were asleep by putting their hands in warm water to encourage them to pee in their sleep. Also, they dipped bras in water and put them in the freezer. I found my frozen training bra the next morning, I was humiliated.
The Bon Jovi music reminded me of hanging out with the "Older Girls" like Kim & Denise after young women's. This song specifically took me back to a time with Kim & Kim, what a night of "cruising". We had so much fun. I think only one of my readers, Lori, would be able to relate to this experience unless I have others lurkers I don't know about!
I turned 37 this week and can't believe how time flies. I remember when I was twelve and my mom was 37. I thought she was so old. I just didn't imagine this day would come so soon. I feel great, 37 isn't so bad, it's all in your frame of mind. I feel like I'm still in my twenties, other than the occassional aches and pains in the joints and the fact my children like to remind me that Iam not young anymore.
work hard, play hard, rider harder.

37 is the new 27 - right?
K, and I'm old too because I totally remember freezing bras at birthday parties. And putting sleeping girls hands in warm water.
I too remember those days of playig volleyball and basketball. Time really does fly and I can't believe that you are so old....so if you're old, what does that make me?
I hope you had an awesome birthday....I know I enjoyed it.
This lurker can relate. We too won a church volleyball championship when I was 13 or 14 and Wanted Dead or Alive was right in there somewhere!
On the other hand I can't imagine having a daughter who is 12!! What a blessing (however mixed it may feel).
So looking forward to Moab this weekend! We'll have to find some 80's hits to play and drive the guys crazy!
AACCCKK!! Don't remind me!! hahahaha The hair, the clothes, oh gag me. hehehehe Do you remember how cool we thought we were? Have to admit my daughter is ROFLOL. She doesn't believe we were that cool. Silly girl. I'll have to try and frind some pictures to prove it to her. Fun trip down memory lane. Have fun...you're only this old once.
